Andrew McDermott was born and raised in Staten Island, New York. After attending Xaverian High School in Brooklyn, New York, entered into the real estate world. At the time the Internet Industry was a bust, and the Real Estate industry was on fire says McDermott.
In 2002 McDermott was named Realtor Associate of the Year by the Staten Island Board of Realtors. With College always being on the back burner, McDermott enrolled at Union County College in Cranford, New Jersey in 2007.
Some of the highlights were getting back into the classroom, and finally understanding Math, along with tweaking and improving his writing skills. At this time, the Real Estate industry was in a meltdown of itself, so it was the perfect time to step away and complete an Associate’s Degree.
The Associates Degree was awarded in August, 2013, and then decided to take a year off from school to find a College to complete his Bachelor’s Degree.
After searching the tri-state area, St. John’s University became the perfect match. McDermott enrolled in Fall 2014, and graduated in May, 2016.
The skills learned from taking these College courses has helped McDermott improve his understanding of the world around him. Being able to apply real world examples to the classroom and vice-versa, will make McDermott even better in the Real Estate industry.
In his spare time, McDermott enjoys cooking, reading, and giving back to the community. McDermott says he doesn’t need all of the attention associated with giving back. He does it because he wants to do it.
